Hey guys
I've got 01 Exp 5.4 4X4. While slowly accelarating from about 40 mph to 70mph, the car starts shaking a little bit. I do not know how to explain that but it feels like something is pulling the car back (like something is holding the car while I try to move forward). I know that is not the best explanation but maybe someone out there knows what that might be.
I replaced all plugs and coils, air filter, fuel filter and cleaned MAF sensor (didn't help)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again
I have a very similar sensation in mine. I have yet to figure it out 100% but I'm leaning towards a bad torque converter based on what I've read on here. Mine does get better with (though it doesn't totally go away) a tranny flush so I'm fairly certain it's in the tranny somewhere.
Just FYI: A number of people have complained of similar problems, only to discover that they were getting misfires underacceleration due to COP problems. Annoying, but cheaper to repair than rebuilding transmission....
Obviously the original poster has replaced his coils, but for anybody having the shudder problems, COPS/plugs should be checked.
I have decided to replace the 2 coils that I changed about a year ago (I had some extra laying around, other 6 were replaced less than a month ago). Most of the vibration is now gone. It does not feel like the car is being pulled back anymore. However, the truck is still shaking a little bit while accelarating at higher speeds. I can't figure that one out yet.
Thanks for all your help
Thats part of FORDs new shake and bake program if you dont get the cruse control recall done .
Seriously I agree with pitrow its probably a torque converter problem that might just be fixed by simply a complete fluid change with draining converter and adding some anti shutter additive .
