For the life of me, I can't figure out why in the world you guys always go for the mud tires, when 99% of your driving is on the highway. I was in Vegas over Easter and most of the pickups running around town with meat hooks for tires.
M/T tires are noisy, ruff riding and the mileage on hard suface is terrible.
Stay with a moderate A/T tire, such as the Pro Comp A/T or the BFG all-terrian and you will be way more money ahead. The best you can expect out of a M/T is around 25,000 miles, a A/T will give you 40,000 plus for mileage with a better and quiter ride.
The tire companies just love you M/T guys.

What if...
A) You don't care about the noise
B) You don't care about the rough ride
C) You don't care about the MPG
D) You don't care about the tread-life
E) You don't care that you spend 99% of your time on paved roads.
That can only mean one thing.... you like they way they look!
The logical choice isn't always the "right" choice.
Yep, folks just like to trick out their rides, nothing wrong with that.
I am keeping mine stock because it handles really nice at high speed, tows like a dream, and I am broke anyway from making payments!! I do look on in envy when I see a 4" lift going by with aftermarket rims on it and 35" tires. I will settle for a nice set of AT tires and some Bilstiens up the road to smooth out the ride.
Well after some reading and with some another good words about them from the Ford dealer I think I am going to give them a call tomorrow and see what I can get the BFG AT's for in a LT305/65R18/E. I will post back with how it goes but keep up the post on good tires because I am sure there are other people in the same boat looking for some tires. Thanks again guys.
Finally got around to geting rid of those junk continentals.
The BFG 35X18's fit well in my 2005 F350. It has a snow plow package and overload spring pack so it sits a bit higher than a standard SD.
Its break up in Alaska so the truck is a bit muddy, but you get the idea.
No rubbing at all. Plenty of room and they fit great on the stock rims.
No more slipping and sliding in the mud and snow for me.
With the continental's I had to use 4 wheel drive just to get moving at the stop lights in the ice, not a problem now.
