I hate to say this, but IMO I think the best 7.3L was made in 00 and there was certain months of it. The PMR rods came out after that and those are a limiting factor on anything after the 01+. That being said, i think the late 00's with forged are the best, if keeping the lower end stock.

Once you get to the 400hp mark your going to be pulling the motor anyway for studs and such... The latest ones have the most options and look the best!!! WOOHOO!!! Start the moddin...

I didnt even pull mine off the lot before I had it chipped and intake done. Exhaust went on that same week too...

The smaller turbo is on the early 99 trucks. The upgrades were made on 99.5+ models.

I cant wait to start modding it! Im kind of afraid to do alot of modding to the motor though, as right now it gets excellent fuel mileage, and I sure dont want to do that! I know i am going to do the harpoon mod, as I hate filling it up allreaddy! And as for questions, boy will I ever ask alot of those!

The first mod you should do is show that you now have a real truck in your signature line. You can leave that 97 F150 toy there too if you still have it.

Congrats on your new truck and welcome to you new home. You'll find that you will get a lot of help from the people in this forum (if you havn't already noticed)!

Yeah I still have my 97, its hard to part with it though. I do love how you put it though guzzle, now that I have a real truck!
