Ok figured I'd start my own thread now since the problem persists....Changed out third brake light and checked fuse. What do ya'll think about my cruise??? Would really like to have it working.
the service mgr there said to check the two-prong plug on the master cylinder to see if it was unplugged in lieu of the recall- he said a lot were incorrectly unplugged. i didn't see any 'two' prong plugs on the MC, only the three prong plug directly beneath the MC cap. what should i be looking for with this "switch plugin" hoopla?!?!
PS- i did find a plug- two pronged- unplugged from whatever it used to be plugged into, and wrapped in black tape. it looked rather mangled. altho there was no place to plug this 'plug' in on the master cyl, it looked like that was closed to the only place to plug it into- it had a short lead and was laying on the power distribution box. the only avail plug on the MC was still plugged in, the one directly below the mc cap, with three wires. on the very end of the MC on the top, there was a brass plug, that I thought looked strange. is that typical?

Scottie, If replacing the 3rd B-light doesn't fix your CC, check the BPA (Brake Pedal Apply) switch on the front of the master cylinder. It's a normally closed switch, it opens when pressure is applied to the brake pedal. This switch is the subject of a recall that may cause a fire.
Does "closed" switch mean I can just splice the wires and be done with it? Only down fall being my cc won't shut off when the brakes are pressed?
that leads me to yet another question (can you tell this is a new truck I'm not used to) how should the pedal feel on this truck vs my 01 v6 f150? the truck stops just fine(or seems to) but the pedal feels a little(not a lot) spongy. is that typical for a diesel? my buddy said his is the same so i wasn't overly worried about it.
