New here, and I don't want to upset the purists, but has anyone
here used a mid 70's Camaro sub-frame with a Chevy 350. I know,
but I like the truck, and Chevy's.
It looks like I need to recess the firewall a couple inches for the
engine to clear the crossmember. Any info, or pics would help alot.
Thanks.
Welcome PDW!
I've got a 56 with a 77 Camaro suspension grafted onto the front. I think there are a couple of pics in my gallery. I didn't have to modify the firewall and am using an HEI, which is rather large. Many people move the front axle forward 1.5 to 2" to center the wheel in the fender opening.
If you would like, PM me your e-mail and I will send you a copy of the article I followed when I did my clip. I think there is also one online at Bob's F-100 site, but I'll have to dig around for that link.
Good Luck!

Kent,
Nice job on the Camaro suspension installation. I have a 75 Malibu which I think is the same suspension as the 77 Camaro waiting for a future 48-52 project. I hope when the time comes I can pick your brain a little on the installation details.

Vern,
Thanks for the kind words, but you better hurry as there may not be much brain left to pick! Anyway, your F-3 is looking good and it looks like you're almost done with it, so are you going to start your new project this spring?
And here is the link to the Camaro install article from the Bobco website: http://www.bobcoauto.com/camaro_sus_upgrade.html
I didn't follow this one, but it looks pretty detailed with lots of pictures and dimensions.
Good Luck!

To be honest I'm beginning to think we're not going to have a Spring here. It's gonna go straight from Winter to Summer sometime in May.
The new project's start will depend on when the F-3 is far enough along for cruizin'. I really want to drive it to some shows this Summer and I'd like to get started on the new project ASAP.
Thanks for the link!

So they call us Darksiders if we use Chevy parts in a Ford? I would call us
Hotrodders. Didn't hotrodding start by modifying a car or truck to improve
proformance? I am using what I have.

I agree but you have to remember this is FORD site. So, anything Chevy is very dark to some here. My truck is Chevy powered too so there are a few of us here lurking. If you want to hang around get used to being called a darksider. After a while you get used to it. I'd rather stick around than go somewhere else because there isn't anywhere else like this. Most here will accept the Chevy parts in a Ford as hot rodding. Just don't force the issue and all will be well...

Don't forget the proverbial cookies
I seem to recall something about the darkside having cookies
Welcome to the site PDW and also to the darkside "young one"
Isn't that like putting a Toyota engine in a Porsche? Not to put down Chevy here, but a Ford truck isn't a Ford truck unless it's pumpin Ford through it's veins.
