last friday morning i went and started the truck up. truck started up fine and run for about a minute then it died and wouldn't restart. I didn't get a chance to look into it till sunday and found i got fuel up to the injector pump but nothin to the injecjors. so on a hunch i pulled the top off the injector pump and jumped the shutoff and the solenoid didn't move. so with the cover off i hit the key and it started up. yes fuel poured out the top but i only run it a couple of seconds. but is this common?? i've never heard of this on a pickup before. can i buy just the shutoff solenoid or do i gotta change the whole pump? the pump is kinda expensive so i don't wanna spring for it right now.
I assume that you had the top cover grounded, otherwise the soliniod will not work. Diesel Care and Performace sells new solinoids on e-bay, about 49 dollars last I checked. Also be sure you have power without it being jumped, may be an ignition switch /power issue!
yeah i had the cover grounded when i tested it. i took one off an old truck at work and it tested good. so after installing the used one she's back on the road. I'll probably pick up a new one to toss in the glove box just in case.
yes common we had one that would work so so sometimes shut off going down the road and start right back up did that for 6 months till it went out! thats the first hting I check when I buy a non running diesel truck.
