"Dead Miss"?? Or Something Else??
Just installed Autolite (Single) Platinum Plugs
Igniton Cables (SP Wires) have 30-35,000 (also Autolite ... I think they're the "Professional" Series).
Getting an INTERMITTENT "miss" ... that is, I suppose you'd call it a miss. Only happens under full accel., almost always when kicking down into passing gear climbing a hill (mountain). It's pretty weird as there are certain places on the road, where I "KNOW" that it is going to happen - and then other times/places, where I would "THINK" that I could duplicate the problem, or think that it would occur - and it does not (or I can not) - hence, "intermittent".
The best way I know how to describe it is: 'it feels like the engine is being hit with a big hammer' (sort of "recoils" or surges for an instant, almost with like a "bang" (hence "hammer"). "Breakdown" or "breaking down" might be another way to describe it. Electric/Electrical/or Electronic (ANYTHING!) is NOT at all my forte or strong point - so I am wondering if it could be the coil-pack (and are they/is it replaced in one piece - as a unit?) or something else that I am overlooking in the ignition system?
Thx in advance,
Glenn ...
PS - I DID crack one plug on install (just like the old dAzE!), but it was "obvious" (by the way it ran, the sound it made and the arcing could be seen in the dark), and I quickly replaced it. Could there be a hairline crack in another plug that is not as clear or obvious? I used di-electric grease on EVERYTHING.
