I am having problems with not being able to pass emissions because my hydrocarbon ppms are a little too high. The only problems I am having is that it idles erratically. I hooked a timing light up to it and it was all over the place. The light would not flash constantly either. Seems like it was missing every now and then. The truck sometimes dies when I am at a stop light and I barely hit the gas to move forward a little. Otherwise just idling it wont die. I checked for vacuum leaks and couldnt find any, ive recently had the plugs and wires changed. I also just replaced the cam sensor to get the check engine light to go off(which is not coming on anymore). This problem has been going on for a while. The guy at the emissions place said it could be the timing is off or my catalytic converter is bad. any help would be most appreciated.
I looked at the IAC, but it is not really all that dirty.. i just replaced it about a year ago....I tested it with a multimeter as well and the IAC looks good. I have not tired to check the timing without the spout...Ill first have to find out what that is and then Ill try it.
I just pulled the EEC codes and all I got was 111, which is a pass code. I have no idea where to hook the vacuum gauge up to...the book says to hook it to the intake manifold and not a ported vacuum line off of the throttle body. I still havent checked the timing without the SPOUT yet. I am gonna try to do that tomorrow.
