i am getting rid of my 96 powerstroke, and possibly buying an 02 duramax, i know this is sacrilage, but its friends truck and it beautiful. does anyone know of a forum like this but for the duramax?
Not really , you'll like the D-max power IMO. Be sure to read up on the bad years and engine models. Some have huge injector problems, amongst other things.
I have seen them blow heads off blocks in bone stock form. Funniest thing I have ever seen to be honest. "What the ***** was that noise?" he says LMAO, should've taken some pics of it.
I personally do not like the duramax's. I've ridden in one, and they just feel weak.
Get a cummings if your going to jump ship, or go with the 07 or 08 duramax's They have really impressive numbers on paper.
the duramax i may possibly be buying belongs to a buddy of mine. ive driven it before and i really like it. he already has some mods done to it(exhaust and intake) and its already set up for a gooseneck(ball in bed and firestone air bags). plus its really sharp looking, its the last year before chevy went to the cat-eye headlights, which i hate. also, i dont think that they are weak at all. he pulls gooseneck flatbeds loaded with 10 or 12 roundballs when we make hay in the summer and it pulls like a bear.
yes i am selling my powerstroke. its a 1996 F350 powerstroke. 125000 miles. new tranny about 30000 miles ago, not sure right now but i can look it up. paint is 3 years old, it is metallic blue. it has a bully dog 6 position chip, 4inch exhaust, and a homemade tymar intake, also has pyro, tranny, and boost gauges. two sets of rims go with the truck, stock alloys and a set of american racing rims with 33" bfg at's. truck also comes with an old style fisher plow that i used to plow my driveway and my grandparents driveway. it has fresh batteries, new this month. i would like to get $9,500 for it. the only issue i see with that price is that the truck has a salvage title, but the truck itself has no issues from the salvage. im sorry if im ot supposed to post this kind of thing here, but somebody asked so i figured it was ok.
If the moderators don't like your post they'll delete it, but you should be OK IMO.
BTW: Did you go the link I posted above? There's some good reading about the 2001-2004 (LB7) engine. I know the only thing you will read there are complaints but you gotta admit they have injector problems + other things but.....
