I was driving in to work today when I felt my sterring wheel get hard to turn, wondering why it did that. I looked at the power steering reservoir and saw "pink" power steering fluid. Made me wonder why it was pink, so i went to the nearest ford dealer servive dept and was told it had either water or windsheild washer fluid. I have a 2006 F-250 crew cab 4x4 6.0PSD, and it would cost me about $2,000 to change out the entire system. Friends of mine told me to just flush the system several times and it should be fine. I wont be taking my truck to those quick oil change place again, cant find my receipt and they said they dont have me in their system, made me mad. Anyone got some ideas if flushing is good?? Any help is greatly accepted, thanks.
That's the reason I choose to do my own service. When I first bought my pickup I had it serviced at a place and when they removed the old oil filter the top that snaps to the filter cap broke and stayed in the cap. The guy didn't notice and just dropped another filter in and tightend er up. I didn't find out about this until 5000 miles later doing my own service. That's the last time anyone will touch my rig without being a knowledgable 6.0 tech.
I paid cash, i even brought my own filter and oil. I got myself a manuel and will be doing all the maintaince on my truck as of now. I have flushed the system several times now, and sterring/brakes working fine. I get a noise from the pump when i go over a hump or something for about 2-3 seconds and thats it. Nothing when I turn long or short. Thanks for the info...
