Code Scanner Port

Can someone please tell me where the code scanning port is on a '92 F-250 pickup and also what it looks like? Also I bought a Actron Code Scanner that I used on my '88 F-250. I've since sold that truck, but was wondering if the same scanner would work on the 92? Thanks for your help.

If you're port is the same as mine, you will find it above and to the rear of the front driver side wheel well, in the engine compartment, attached to the inside wall there. Sorry for the vague description, thats the best I can do. The plug should be shaped sort of like a triangle with the points chopped off, about an inch and a half long by 3/4 inch tall. There will also be an accompanying square plug with only 1 prong socket in it, much smaller than the other plug. Both of these plugs must be used in a code scanner, and I believe your scanner should work. If memory serves, they used the same kind of plug from 81 through 95?

You can use the same scanner. The connector should be in the same spot and look the same as was on your '88. I used the same scanner on my son's '85 that I used on my '93.

And if I were you, when you are done I would wrap the plug in bubble wrap and duct tape. Some goober smashed the plug on my truck and all the trucks I looked at in the junk yard. lol.
