turbo question
I've had a metalic flapping noise for some time (presumably in turbo), most noticable when cold and/or running under heavy towing load. Ford Dealer said it was turbo and replaced with refurbished turbo. Now the same noise is constant (10 times worse). You can hear it all the time when you accelerate and then get off the gas. I have 04 6.0 (48k miles) with add ons of 4" exhaust, edge platnium, and K&N air filter. Thank God dealer did not try and say add ons caused this but said it was covered under warranty. They also said maybe the cause was different pressures withing turbo due to different exhaust system and add ons. Any advise on cause or remedy. Also, I think this is unrelated, however, just had to have the EGR cooler replaced as antifreeze squirted out all over the engine area on a recent trip towing a 10k lb. camper.

get rid of the k&n. put your better stock unit back on as you wont find a better filter, i dont care who says what. the open element will let the noise be more evident. but i have bad news. between your turbo sticking and your towing, it sounds like you were puking not squirting. you need heads/gaskets probably.
