Question remote start

As a surprise for my birthday, my family chipped in and bought me a remote starter for my 2005 F-150. They purchased it from the local Ford dealer, and all I have to do is make an appointment and drop the truck off. I have a V-8, automatic transmission, but no power locks or windows. I'm sure many of you have the remote start, so what is it like and does it work well? I'm planning on using it mainly in colder weather to start the truck and warm it up. Any info and/or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.....

I love mine. I can start the truck from in the house, let it warm up, then hop in and leave.
Even if you don't have power locks, you can have actuators installed for keyless entry.

Can't live without it. I use mine to cool the interior during the hot Houston summers. If nothing else, it's fun to start the car when unsuspecting pedestrians walk by.

It's good that you are having it professionally installed, they are a b!@#$ to do.

Only negative feature to the remote start is you will see your gas mileage take a hit when you use it. Beyond that, enjoy it...

I live just outside Chicago and had one put in this past winter. Best money I ever spent. Nothing like lugging through the snow on a cold morning to get into a toasty, warm, ready to go 4x4!
