So I installed the K&N kit on my truck last Friday. WOW, I cannot believe the difference between stock and this thing. Why have I not done this before now. The spec sheets say 13.8 more horsepower on my 4.6L and I can say that I believe it. If any one is looking for one I can recommend the guys that I bought mine from on the internet. I got the 77 series which is crome and looks great. It was about $40 cheaper then the plastic one from Advanced and Auto Zone. I paid $219 for mine. When the plastic one is 260 from discount and the crome is like 300.
Thanks....BTW, it's not chrome, but i get your drift...I have it on my F150 5.4L...love the look, love the sound and beware of the naysayers on here about K&N....they love to trash it.
I got the exhaust about 2 years ago, I thought she sounded good before, the exhaust is not louder but it just sounds healthy. My truck is the 4.6 5-speed will the tuner really help?

my ***-dyno tells me that my Hypertech Power Programmer helped...
but, i read about all the other tuners, with emailable/downloadable updates and wonder if i went wrong!
***-dyno...thats great...I just wonder with the manual tranny if it would really help also I have no idea what I would change in the programming...I guess I would figure it out but that is a lot of money to drop on something and not know what I am going to do with it.

Not sure with the manual, but I changed the top speed (no need for it), changed it to run on 93 octane (more power, yet same MPG, believe it or not), the shift points (increased the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts by 300 RPMS) and increased the rev limiter by 400 RPMS....and it automatically improves the timing throughout the power band.
I recommend you contact each manufacturer of the tuners you are looking at. Jim at www.hypertech.com is quick to reply.
A tuner you can change the tunes for towing, and just all out performance, the chips makes the change all at once and once installed is not adjustable unless removed, Ive got a jetchip I installed years back it helped from 2500rpm up, But I rarely use that kinda rpm, Im trying to sell it..The tuners are awesome, and to me haveing both gives more performance...
I got the Edge and now that the bugs are being worked put on the 07 its great I have a 4.6 with 3.55 and when I installed it I could tell a great change. I put it on 2 and it pulls better,it has low end power now, befor I did this it had very bad low end power.
I have a K&N on my truck but I don't know which onew since it was on my truck when I bought it. Next I'll save up and do a cat back exhaust then a tuner programmer
