Well, I took my f-350 as my tow rig to a mud bog this past Saturday and ended up parking at a slight down hill angle, nothing serious just a little down hill. Went back later and tried to start it, it would crank but not fire, called a few people that I thought knew about diesels and they said that it might have an air bubble locking off flow to the injectors because when I was cranking, there was no smell of fuel coming out of the exhaust. Beats me! Towed the truck to a more level ground and waited until Sunday morning when I had daylight to try to look at it. Pulled the fuel filter cap and it was getting fuel, just wouldn't fire. Had to hook my buddies F-350 up to try to charge my batteries back up and jump start mine. After messing with the thing all day, finally admitted defeat and had to call for a tow. Now, I'm still in the same predicament, just 2 hours away from my truck. I checked all of the fuses and they all looked good, and without a code scanner, I'm lost. Anyone have any suggestions or should I just get it towed into the local dealership to get fixed? I'm not a diesel guy, but it looks like I need to learn to become one with this 6.0!!!
could be a hp oil issue or a number of electrical issues. if you are under warranty, get it to a dealer.
hp oil issue?? like there could be too much pressure in the oiling system preventing it from firing? The electrical issue is one of the suggestions i got yesterday, which is why I checked the fuses to start out with, but it could be more detailed than that.
HP oil issue meaning there may not be enough pressure. The injectors on the 6.0L are actuated by high pressure oil. I agree though if it is under warranty, take it to the dealer.
