I just picked up a used 95 Bronco yesterday and decided to take it to the manual car wash for a scrub. Upon leaving, it's my guess that I didn't fully latch the spare tire carrier and it whacked the tailgate, thus shattering my rear glass!!! So, I'm a bit pissed!! I can't imagine how else it would have happened?? But anyway, is the glass replacement easy?? Is junkyard glass cheap and easy to find or should I take it to a glass place to have it done?? Thanks in adavance for the help..........Joe
There is no tension on the torsion bar when the tailgate is in the full upright position, so to answer your question- no. Check around with your local glass companies, you may be surprised at the cost of the rear glass, probably not as much as you expected.
Thanks for the advice. I suppose it was the loose tire carrier after all. I called a local glass place and got a quote of 230 dollars installed. I went with it. They came while I was at work and did the job. Perfect. I figured it saved me the trouble of finding the glass at the boneyard and taking the time to install it myself.
