Hello,I'm curious to learn more about my '90 XLT through it's VIN:1FMEU15NXLLA16645.I already know what the "N" is for(302 V-8),but want to know where it was built. Also, are there any websites that can tell you more about:the actual date it was built, what dealership ordered it(or was shipped to),and the original date it was sold when new?I tried qualitycare.com,and gave them the VIN,but they never got back to me.Maybe a 1990 model is too old to keep records of??? I know my Bronco was built sometime during 8/89.Thanks.
I went out on a site search for "78 Bronco". This site (www.medicine.wisc.edu/~mrm/bronco/) is mainly for 78-79 Bronco's, but he has a neat VIN decoder also.
The results available are: your truck came with a 6 cylinder, 300ci engine with a one barrel carb. Also, it was built in Louisville, KY, and was number 16,645 produced.
I sent my VIN number to the Ford Motor Company website - can't remember exactly where and received a wealth of information. Details like: Mine was built at the Michigan Truck Assembly Plant with the following:
Limited Slip rear axle with a ratio of 3.55
Trailer Towing Package including the following:
Trailer wiring harness
Heavy-Duty turn signal flasher
Rear stabilizer bar
Quad front and heavy-duty rear shock absorbers
Heavy duty battery
Super Engine cooling
Electronic Shift 4x4, touch drive with automatic locking hubs
I was also able to track the Florida registration forms via a (free) title search - freetitlesearch.com(?) - to find that it was sold from an Orlando, FL dealer and resold in 1999 at the Orlando Auto Sale to Tallahassee Motors, Inc., Tallahassee, FL.
Thanks guys for the help.I know everything checks out with the truck's data sticker inside the driver's door jam,and it has the EFI5.0L(code N),but I'm just curious about it's history.I did a Carfax report on it before I bought it,and everything was okay.I just wanted some history on it,and maybe to contact the original owner.A friend of mine recently bought a "history report" for his '68 Torino GT(which I sold to him).It was from some place out in Arizona. It had details like:the date when the car went down the assembly line, when it was completed, the original date of the order(and from which dealership),when the car originally was sold, and ,of course, all the optional equipment on the car.He has the original owner's manual...the name typed on the inside cover matches the name on the report. So it's all original. That's just cool infomation to have,I think. This place deals with Fords from the 50's up to (I think) the year 1989.My Bronco was built in 8/89(1990 model year),so I'll probably just miss the cutoff. I'll have to ask him the name of that place, and how much it cost, next time I get to talk to him.
