I just bought one for $104 total, including shipping. I didn't eBay it because I've seen several versions of the Prodigy on there, with a different model number. Since I want new and not last year's version, I figured its safest to buy new. We'll see how fast it gets here
Prodigy controllers with serial numbers below 0130001 have a software problem that causes a false open ground condition: http//www.tekonsha.com/files/Technical%20Bulletin%20-%2020020060.pdf
If those on eBay have serial numbers of 0130000 and below, they don't have the new software installed (Version 2.4). Something to ask before you buy........?

True - but Tekonsha reports that it does not make the controller non-functional, it's just a false code.

how difficult is it to install a prodigy in a 04 f250??....it came with a wiring harness when i bought the truck...what else do i need to buy?...im not really comfortable cuttin wires under the dash!
Yup... just match wires with the harness (NOT by color, by function), crimp a few wires, then take the whole unit and plug it under the dash and mount the box, all done!

WRONG!!!
Like BPofMD said.. Get the correct pigtail adapter, it will plug in under the dash and plug in on the back of the prodigy. NO MATCHING WIRES, NO CUTTING, NO CRIMPING!!

All you have to do is get the older one and drop it. They have a LIFETIME warrantee. I bought mine in 2000. I had to have it replaced just this year. It went funky and showed NC all the time.
I took it to the local RV repair and supply shop, they just swapped me right there
