Okay so you had a 150-200 degree drop in EGT temps (not the 1500 degree you previously posted, to many zeros). I am not a fan of the SuperChips either.
That being said, with all the field research done on tuning and racing the 6.0 the SCT has shown to be the most versital and least damaging to the engine. The Banks system is probably fine for what it is, problem for me with the Banks or any of the systems that work the way they do, is they don't monitor or control enough parameters and this can lead to problems if the driver isn't well informed with multiple gauge input (EGT Trans Temp, Oil Temp, real Water Temp, Fuel Pressure) and then the driver has to know what to do with all this information. Furthermore i have found with most Banks products that they cost alot more than products that do and equal or better job. Gale Banks and his team may have built and raced a fast Dodge Diesel but i haven't seen them do it with a 6.0 yet.
I just can't steer someone towards any other tuner product than what has proven to be the best fit for the 6.0.
Enjoy your Banks 6 Gun and your SD, just keep and eye on your gauges (as you really should with all tuners or stock towing) and have fun
Don't think I'm ready to do anything to my new truck yet........but I would like some info on the SCT tuner. I have only seen it mentioned on this forum. Where can I find out more about it? Thanks, Rex
Thanks for the info Blackhat620. I already have guages and a straight pipe. The only reason I want some black smoke is to fog out all those little rice burners. I checked out the SCT at LIPD and from what I can understand, the tuner holds up to three tunes, correct? If so, I want to get an econo tune, a towing tune, and a race tune for the track. 80% of my driving is highway miles to and from work everyday. I pull a car or something small like that on the weekends, but thats about it.
Yes it holds 3 tunes, but your computer can hold as many as you can get Matt to write and email to you. It uploads tunes pretty quick and visa-versa. So your not just limited to 3 tunes.
