87 F150 Pulling the Engine ... hints?
I ruined my 87 F150 5.0L EFI engine yesterday ... lost coolant and tried to make it to town. Runs ... but real rough now, had it hauled home ... would not want to take it more than 5 miles!
I've been meaning to replace the engine anyway.
ford-motors-engines.com has a LB for $1042 + $235 shipping
I can't complain ... 273,866 miles on the puppy.
Any hints on pulling the motor? I've done the water pump about 2 years ago, so I can get the goodies on the front off.
Mainly advice on the tranny, and exhaust ... I may have to cut the pipes after the headers ... they look pretty solidily stuck.
Any other things I should look at replacing while it's out?
Since the engine will be out, anyone know of a good place for a automatic transmission? might as well replace that too if I'm pulling the motor.
Thanks,
