Anyone done this?

Has anyone replaced the bushings on the radius arms on a '96 302? If so how hard is it to do and how long does it take. Any information you could give me I would appreciate it alot... Thanks

Here's how to do it:

It is not a fast job... as I'm sure the bottom of your truck doesn't look anywhere near as clean as the one used in the above photos.

To replace them in my 93 F350 crewcab, took me pretty much an entire weekend. I also replaced other bushings and such while I had things apart.

Expect to use a torch as well. Mine would NOT come out or off. Even broke a few bits trying to drill them out.

so did you cut out the rivots or take the radius arm loose and move the whole axle?

take off large bolt on radius arm with truck supported at frame I use jack at trans cross member area. (so you can raise and lower truck to help this line up. )with little pressure on tire) and tire on. and carefully move axle towards front truck till you can swap bushing s I use a heavy ratchet strap to help hold axle forward while doing this .Just be careful . Get a manual it will help.
P.S. those nuts can be tight spray em a couple time a week before start.
good luck

I just took the big nut off the end then cut the rivets off with a torch, eplaced the bushing and bolted it back on. It shouldn't take you more than an hour.

Thanks for all the help guys i plan to do this within the next couple weeks...I always like to investigate and find out what I am getting myself into before I start...The more I look at it I do believe the easiest way to do it is by cutting those rivots off...I thought those things would be a b**** to get off but when i replace the leaf spring hangers it wasnt that bad....So again I thank everyone for the helpful ideas and hints on how the make this project a little bit easier
