Turbo Cleaning
Took a trip to Pigeon Forge Easter weekend was losing boost. Got a check engine lite . Took truck to a ford dealer. The tech said the Turbo needed to be cleaned say's ford will not replace turbo until it as been cleaned once . Say's if I have any more problems Ford will replace the Turbo.My truck has never been used for short trips or idled for long time. Also the tech told me that after he has cleaned a turbo has never had one returned?

Sounds like what others have reported as correct procedure. Even if you don't make short trips or let it sit for long periods, the turbo could have rusted up on the lot. Referred to as lot-rot here and elsewhere. What year and mileage, truck info?

Ford replaced my turbo without cleaning it first........of course 3 of the vanes had chunks missing that shelled out the oil pump, etc. But, on the bright side the turbo looked rust free......
