Comments & Recommendations on Timing Gear Sets ???

Clyde is getting a new "straight up" timing chain set before we leave for Colorado in May. I value the opinions on these forums and I'm trying to decide on a brand to order and looking at various places to purchase from.

Hopefully I'm only going to have to do this once so I'd like to make a good choice. I won't say price isn't a consideration, I believe quality pays off in the long run, but I have other stuff I'd like to get done also.

Do any of you have any recommendations or preferences about these sets and if so would you please share your reasoning with us all.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this and we could all benefit.

Thanks guys ...

Well my personal preference anymore is the FRPP set from ford, I run one with a solid roller cam and has been working real well. Price isn't too bad either if you get the one with the iron gears, part number is M-6268-B429 and you can get them for around $62 or you can get the one with the steel gears for around $75 part number M-6268-A460

Thanks Monster,

I've found that Summit fits the prices you described. I guess I hadn't thought of Ford Racing Performance Parts as a source. Mostly I hear names like Comp Cams and Cloyes with their variations. I guess I never really understood what made them different ... if anything other than manufacturer.

I see Summit has their own brand version that's less expensive than most of the others but I personally prefer name brands for something like this. The others I know little about but FRRP is a name I know.

I'd hoped for a few more comments, maybe a little discussion, but at this point your suggestion looks like a winner. I'll probably put in an order this evening so I can get it done soon.

I appreciate it!

I use the Milodon "Premier Roller" with great success. Look up the specs in the PAW Catalog. I think you will be impressed. The 460 part number is Mil-15009. Just my 2 cents worth.

I've had good luck with my Edelbrock double roller set-up.
