I think I put the original thread in the wrong forum. If someone could delete it, I'd appreciate it.
<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I've got a 71 and a 72 both E-100's. I'm wanting to swap the 72's 302 and C4 into another vehicle. I'm wondering a couple key pieces of information on the motor mount locations so I can finish the pre-fab work before the vans get here.
1. How far apart are the mount points(centers) on the 302 block?
2. What angle are they at? (not necessarily pertinent)
3. How far(vertical/plumb) from the bottom of the oil pan to the mount points(centers) on the block?
4. How far from the front of the block to the mount points(centers)?
Just happen to have a bare '70 block on the stand fresh out of the machine shop. Now, these numbers were taken with a straight edge and tape, so while they're not to the .xxxx", they're very close.
1. 7" center to center of the bolt holes (horizontally front to back), 13 1/8" c-c horizontally across the block.
2. The motor mount bosses are machined parallel to the pan rail,
3. 1 5/8" from the pan rail up to the mount bosses.
4. Now, the mount bosses are offset from side to side, with the driver side farther back from the front of the motor by an inch-
D. side 5 3/8" - 12 3/8"
P. side 4 3/8 - 11 3/8"
I'm working on fabbing up the mounts to swap my '72 302 and C4 into my 1999 Ford Escort LX. Make it a little RWD ground pounder while using the '71 E-100 (healthy 302) as my daily.
I get plenty of criticism, but I don't care. Someone pioneered the 302 into the Focus, I want to do it to my Escort.
