On a door with stock West Coast mirrors, where the lower end of the bracket attaches, are those things called well nuts?
Anyone know where you get new ones?
No, I'm talking about the threaded holes in the door where the lower end of the bracket bolts to the door.
There is no threaded hole in the door..what you are looking at is a metal shouldered well nut (aka rivet nut) with either a hexagon or octagon sided outer shell, so called because it has inside threads, and is designed to expand when the bolt (or screw) is inserted in the door, or wherever. These have all been replaced today by the plastic expander type, used in 1000's of applications.
However, if you want originals, there are several dealers around the LA area that prolly have them as both carry large stocks of standard (hardware) parts. These parts are not carried on inventory, so calling and giving parts numbers is worthless. Email me and I'll tell you who the likely candidates are. You can also check dealers in your area. Here's the original part number from the western mirror kit:
376903-S .. Rivet (well) nut 1/4"-20
