Tommorrow Will Be The 3rd Wheel Cylinder That I Put Into My 90 F250 4.9 Il6 In The Past Month. Autozone Must Have Some Crap Parts.
My ?? Question Is My Rear Antilock Light Comes On When It Wants. What Does It Mean Why Is It Coming On And Does It Have Anything To Do With My Wheel Cylinder Leaking?
The rear anti-lock brake cylinder is just under the cab of the truck. Inside the frame behind the drivers side front tire. Follow the brake line down to the back of the truck and you will see the brake line going in and coming out of it. Honestly, the rear anti lock system kind of sucks, in my opinion. The light could be coming on because of that antilock cylinder failing or the sensor in the rear axle failing. You could just route the antilock brake cylinder out of the brake lines and then just take the light out of the dash. It will be one less part prone to failure, but your rear brakes will lock up sooner.
If The Anti Lock Brake System Does Fail, Will The Truck Still Be Driveable? My Question Do I Really Need It? I Understand The Purpose Of The Brakes Not Locking But Will I Have A Serious Problem Trying To Stop If It Goes????
Realy it depends on cost over chance of not stoping in time during a rainy night when a trackter trailer stops fast in front of you. Plus lots of states have laws on messing with ABS and stations can fail an inspection if the light does come on when a scan tool commands it on
I agree with quicklook2, Most of the time its air that causes the light to come on after brake work. Stay far away from autozone. They sell nothing but junk. Get you a good cylinder and bleed the brakes(all four), starting with the passenger rear. Good Luck!
RABS 1 sucks. Unplug it under the dash if you dont care about ABS, if you do, check the ABS system where they are talking about, usually you have to clean them out.
Then bleed your brakes, starting with the one furthest away from the master cylinder, which is your passenger side rear.
If you do not have a vacume bleeder, have somebody pump the breaks and put some pressure on there instead of just opening the valve and pressing.
It does sound like you have air in there.
Wheel Cylinders shoudn't go bad that easy, there is nothing there to malfunction but seals.
i put the 3rd wheel cylinder on today i got this one from advanced. its friggin leaking. i dont understand. is there something that im doing wrong what would cause 3 brand new cylinders to leak?? i cant stand this
How come everyone says that RABS is so bad? Admittedly, when I bought my truck it wasnt working, but I changed one sensor in the rear diff, changed a frayed harness and I've not heard boo from it since. In fact, I think it's saved me from the back end of my truck going squirly a few times this winter.
Anyway, I've not seen anyone say anything nice about RABS on this site, and was just wondering why no one seems to like it?
I find the only downfall is the extra repair cost when it does not work. I have been saved from smashing a rear bumper once due to a RABS. I was able to repair 3-4 in the shop, just tear down, clean and check everything and reasemble.
