Hey, I got a new job at a Ford Stealership and i drove a 1997 Extended cab Long box 2WD with the 7.3 It had 200 somethin on it and i hopped in it and on my way down to a smaller lot i matted it and OMG it was so SLOW! Compared to my Dads 2002! After i thought about it a while i though that i didnt hear the turbo. Can you guys hear the turbos like i can on my dads 2002 with your OBS 7.3's? Saying im going to buy one tomorrow and if that is true, I got alot of money and work to do lol.

LOL! Yea i got a pretty good check comin next week and after i buy the truck il have 2000 Dollars to spend. First is tires and wheels. It has those Nasty Hub Caps that are on the ambulances and Vans.

 

I dont hear my turbo at all until I am winding up at highway speed on my 97 . Of course I rarely floor it from a rolling start either!

 

I didn't hear my turbo until I installed the 6637 filter set-up.

 

so king what truck are you buying? yes I can hear my turbo

 

Put a bigger DP and exhaust on it. kill the cat and 6637 intake and that turbo will sing like no other.

Its a 1996 Powerstroke 4x4 Extended cab Long box. Dark Red. ITs up by you, North of Grandrapids its called Twin Lake Michigan. ITs got 185 Thousand on her. Its at a dealership and the people who run it seam VERY nice. They want 7995 For it and he told me he would give me a heck of a deal. They also said they sent it through an inspection and it passed, I dont know what that is but i brought every tool in my garage so i can do my own inspection. I dont seem to trust many mechanics these days. Im sure glad i drove the 1997 today so i know how they are power wise. I would have thought somethings wrong lol. I have pictures of the truck and it seams very nice. We will have to see when i get there, Im just hoping its not a big dissapointment after driving 3 hours one way. But im going to try to get it as cheap as i possibly can. Im hoping they will take 6500 for it because that will leave me alot of money to play around with Mod wise.

 

jboard im already planning on the 3 inch to 4 inch DP with the napa filter and running 5 inch straight pipe to 5 inch turnout stacks

I have a 3"X4" DP and 5" straight pipe exits behind tire sounds good dual stacks should sound even better...Way to go!!! Congrats.

 

yeah i could NEVER hear my turbo unless towing 10k+ pounds but ever since i put the stacks on i could hear it slightly, the intake and oh yeah i can hear it! once i put my 3" downpipe on and gut the cat it'll scream!!!!

 

Well i drove 3 Hours one way to check it out. Where do i start. Rusted out cab Corners, Bubbling on the rear wheel well, The box had so much weight in it it made the floor buckle, The interior no arm rest, the door panels where held on by "A" screw, Stains, Goat Hair in the back (WTF haha) There was dust inside the guages, INSIDE! Steering wheel had bite marks in it from the goats, (im being serious about the goats!) Now mechanically, The motor ran great, the trans shifted good, 4x4 didnt work. They greased something up for me under the truck and it started working. Everything was good then i brought the jack out of my truck and jacked up the front end. I could move the tires in every direction very easly, i could literally watch the either the inner tire rod that goes to the pitman arm move freely, i had to check to see if it was even connected. The leaf springs up front were bowed and broke. It was a mess. Im so upset that i drove almost 7 hours round trip to look at a big piece of CRAP! Even tho the dealer said that it was a great truck! The mechanic defiantly checked that one out good. Well its back to looking for me. Thanks TJ for the offer but i just got the comment about u wanting to look it over with me. Thanks tho
