Hello all my first post back after a bit of a break. I am going to be getting a 1989 f250 4x4 with a 7.3l diesel engine from my brother around 05-11. I am getting a really good deal on it because he got a new rig and there a couple of things wrong with it.
About 6 months ago he took it in to ford and had them take a look at it because it was not shifting in to 2nd gear. They ended up putting a new tranny in it which solved that problem.
However, now it shifts very hard if you have your foot into the throttle. If you let off the throttle when it needs to shift it does it fine. He also told me that the speedomoter isnt working. I am not sure how new of an issue this is though.
Depending on which automatic it has, yes, the VSS could be causing the hard shifting. If it is an E4OD it shifts based on VSS. If it is a C6, then no, the VSS makes no difference.
