I am strongly considering removing my tubes and getting that foil insulation off and have them powder-coated!!!
I def think those that have done it so far have had positive results
Remove the foil??? I guess i dont have to worry about doing that mod! Mine dosn't have foil on them. LOL. I have a 1999 F350 Dually which is stock and has no foil on the intercooler pipes.
Most early trucks don't unless the tube was replaced after they made the change. Then you'd have the foil, naturally. Here's the thread I started after I yanked that junk off mine: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...nsulation.html
After reading all the responses so far, I think I'm going to plan on taking the polish approach first. If they end up getting scuffed much afterwards, then I'll go with either the powder coat or "epoxy appliance paint" route. The clear engine coat also sounds pretty good. Oh well... I'll let it keep simmering for now. Great ideas, guys.
I painted my pipes with ceramic engine block paint, and i notice that it quieted down the whistle some. It is still more whistle than with the insulation, but less than before they were painted. I am headed back down to redo the CCV on my truck, and magnet test it.
I could hear the whistle better after i removed the foil. However, I still haven't got all the glue/insulation off. I had a temporary lapse in judgement and tried to burn the last bit off since it was soaked in thinner.... no luck. Now, just more to polish.

You crack me up!!! I even have tears in my eyes! Thanks for the honesty... I needed a laugh right now because my wife just informed me that I CANNOT get a diesel Excursion... she doesn't like the noise! A gasser (gag) is an acceptable alternative compromise, though!!

Try again in a week. Maybe your PMS' are flaring up at the same time.
