Isn't the IC Tube on drivers side supposed to be the hot side and the passenger side the cold side or cooled side? Assuming this is correct, why can't fell a temperature difference between the two, I mean shouldn't the hot side get hot? or warm? Could there be an obstruction or a gate or something cousing limited air flow? Sorry i just don't completely understand it... How much oil could be in there. I can see some oil around the front boots that obviously need tightened so how tight do I crank them? Trying not to make a costly mistake here! Thank you.
If your boots are oily and dirty, I would remove them, clean them, and reinstall. If you do this, be very careful to not let the driver side pipe rest against or come too close to the hard fitting under your A/C compressor. I think the fitting is part of the power steering plumbing.
If you haven't done the CCV mod yet, you should do that in order to prevent resoiling the boots. The link in my signature will take you to a web page that has additional links to the CCV mod details.
Also, the unit down by the hot-side I/C pipe is the power steering pump, not the AC compressor. At least it is on mine. Maybe it's different with a dual-alternator system (if that's what you have)??? I had to tie-wrap a couple pieces of heater hose over those hard tubes to keep it from hitting, too.
BTW, it's really going to be hottest when under a lot of boost. Just sitting there idling there won't be much temp difference in the two tubes. It will also cool fairly quickly after nailing it, so you would have a hard time trying to feel the difference.
Remember that at idle the air is not compressed at all thus the air is not heating up much at all. The only way to "feel" it getting hot would be to on a dyno or something that loads the engine up to create the boost, then you would feel a difference. You need to compress the air to heat it. Thats why it feels the same at idle. Driver side is hot, passenger side it cold. Vent the crank case to the atmosphere then go through and clean all your boots, clean all the intercooler pipes, flush out the intercooler, and reinstall and i belive you tighten down the IC boots clamps to 50 in lbs.
Thanks! This is good info. So nothing cause an obstruction in the IC system right? And I will do a CCV Mod and cleaning of the system but I got lost at FLUSH THE COOLER what do I do this with?
