Gonna be a loooong weekend. Saturday, I'm driving a friend to the hardware store to purchase a replacement Arcadia door. Sunday, four or five of us are meeting at his house in the morning to pull out the old door, and install the new.
The trim is down, and it doesn't look all that difficult...remove the shims and screws, beat the old one out, then lift the new one in to place. (Assuming he buys the correct size door... )
Anybody done this before? Any known pitfalls to avoid? (Besides hauling a friends new Arcadia door in the back of a 30 year old truck... )

One pitfall is you never know what the sub structure is like until you take the old one out. There may be termite or carpenter ant damage that needs to be taken care of before reinstallation.
Another recommendation is use plenty of caulking to fill the gaps.
Thanks for the input both...we're guessing about 300 lbs on weight. There will be four of us...all decent sized guys.
As for the surrounding woodwork, we know that the header needs replaced, both sides look good, and we won't be able to see underneath til we get the door out.
And he intends to shoot some of that expanding silicone foam as far as he can while we have the header out.
