460 gas problem. Carb Issue

Hi everyone, glad I found this forum, I have been lurking about for a while, but now I have an issue with my truck, and thought I would see if anyone can help.
I have a 1976 F250 with a 460 with about 20K miles on it. The carb is a 4350 series. I had a bad accelerator pump (not the diaphram one, but a small rubber cup), it was split in two. The truck was having a hard time accelerating, but now with the new pump, it wont accelerate at all. It will cough and suck air and die. I havent even got out of the driveway yet. Any ideas what I may have done wrong?
Thanks, Brandon

Sounds like the new pump is not working. Did you get the linkage back on properly?

The best way to test it is to take off the air cleaner and, without the engine running, climb up over the carb so you can look straight down into its throat and slowly push the accelerator rod open. You should see a steady stream of gas going down the throat of the carb. If not, you have a problem with the accelerator pump.

Some of these carb problems can really be frustrating, so good luck. Gary

Thanks

I was kinda thinking the same thing. But I will check to see if it is pumping, and if it isn't, then I will pull it apart again and check the pump. Thank you.
