Anyone else using obserd amount of fuel? I have an 05 PSD 285/75 tires and thr rest is stock. I think i have a bad EGR problem but not sure it would make me use sooo much fuel. i get about 11MPG and most of that is highway!!! Want to unplug EGR and see if this helps any sugestions?(NJ truck no eng. light to worry about)
Hey Don't feel bad. I have not seen 11mpg since I bought my truck. It only has 5100 miles on it though. A couple of weeks ago I got 10.3 on the interstate. But since the my average is down to 8mpg. I have gotten under 7 mpg on two tanks. and for most of the winter I got 7.5.
I would be seriously looking at you turbo. Are you boost levels normal? Everyone I know who's lost a turbo reported a serious reduction in mileage before failure/diagnosis of the turbo. That being said there is a host of other factors which can affect mileage; fuel, exhaust restriction; any of the sensors monitoring intake air condition; the entire fuel/injection control system.
I would say at the very least take it down to the stealership and have them see if it's throwing any codes or any sensor outputs look abnormal. 11 mpg is low but that all depends on your truck. Rear end ratio? Standard or auto? Load that you're hauling etc etc....

I have an 05 cc sb 6.0psd stock and used to average about 16-18 on the highway. I took it to the dealer for the 82k service and replace all the fluids and filters, including flush the trans. When I got the truck back the mpg dropped a bit and it didn't seem to run as well. The dealer told me the truck needed to "learn" my driving style and habits all over again. It just didn't seem to have the "oomph" and the mileage on the highway is now about 11-14, depending on how heavy my foot is. I asked the dealer if they flashed the truck and they said no.
Got a hair over 3k miles on mine and have been at 15.4 for 2k miles(around town driving) put my tuner on it yesterday and drove it roughly 45 miles and it popped up to 15.5 running an aggressive street tune. Will drive more today and see if it goes up, hope it does but 15.5 is better than the constant 14.8 my 04 got.
My 04 CC SB w/ 315/75R16's is getting around 11mpg city. AFE Stage I intake is the only mod. I just had the turbo replaced, and then the EGR was replaced a week later. Seems to be picking up a little bit in the mileage and it definately runs a lot smoother.
On my truck today I filled up again 8.75 mpg. I keep track of all data at fillup mile driven and hours per tank as well as gallons. I can go an average of about 12 hours between fillups currently. I checked to see what my average miles per hour was for this tankful and it come to be 19mph!! I was shocked. I then checked the total miles 5245 by total hours 272.4 and so far I have averaged 19.25 miles per hour on my truck. On the only tankful that I have gotten above 10mpg I drove 130 miles on the interstate and a total of 328 on the tankful. Probably if I filled up and just drove the interstate I could get 12+.

my '07 (see sig) has averaged 12mpg so far. I have an aluminum ladder rack on it that weighs about 150 lbs. I tow my enclosed trailer about 2 times a week approx. 20-30 miles total per tank. I also may tow a different 12000 lb trailer 3 or 4 times a month again around 10 miles per trip. The rest is just driving around town, back roads, etc. No real highway driving. If I get 400 miles out of a tank I'm shocked. Honestly I'm disappointed with the milage so far. My '02 7.3 (identical truck as my '07) got about the same and I was hoping for better with the 6.0. Hopefully with summer fuel and breakin I will see an increase. BTW I got the truck new on 2-28-07 and it has only 3k on it right now. It has 3:73 rears

When I picked up my 07 on 3/22/07 at the dealer, it had 536 miles on it, because they had to drive it up from another dealer in South Florida, the lie-o-meter said 13.4mpg, within a few days of me driving it increased to 14.5mpg. I don't understand how some of us get better mpg than others, with the same truck. I have gone from 15.4mpg stock to 15.6mpg tuned in 2 days and only 80 miles of driving.
