They were asking that question. If we were to offer a Linux putter, what Linux would you like to use.

My answer was......Make a computer that will run Linux. For just about any Linux Distro. We need hardware that is not made for M$ OS. We need real computer hardware. If you have that, than it will run Linux. Let us run whatever Distro we want.

Most people said about the same thing......
I think it was over 35 questions......

They called me for that survey too, and they are going to offer an unspecified Linux version on their consumer lines.

I have every thing from an 80-86 to present day. Have run the earliest versions of Dos to XP. I still say that Win 3.11 for Work groups was the most stable OS that Gates ever had. And if I could Write the code to run todays software on it I would. I hate 95 and everything sence. I can't upgrade to Vista even if I wanted to as my ISP dosn't support it yet.

Morning John, I play MS Flight sim 2004 with a ton of download and tweeks. Is there anyway that it and Starband will work on a Linux system? Been looking at it for years. But never tryed it yet.

You could use something like this VirtualBox. www.virtualbox.org/ I have downloaded both ver's. XP & Linux. I have yet to try them out. Not much free time. Understand it's good software....

John will know more.......

Originally a program called WINE (Acronym: Wine Is Not an Emulator) which was a good try but hard for the everyday user to setup and I believe it ran solely in the terminal, I could be wrong. Then came WineX which had a GUI and made things easier for the everyday user, but still you cannot run that many games on it. These programs are free.

Somewhat more recent, a company called TransGaming developed a program called Cedega. This program allows you to run DirectX9 games... but not all of them. However, there is some sort of fee to use it. I don't know how much because when I want to play games I just throw my XP harddrive in and go.

Heres a link you might want to check out:

Red face

Good info Guy's. So installing another Hard Drive is no problem. Setting it up as a dual boot system (one or the other Drive) might be. I don't remember seeing the option in the BIOS Setup. Now this could be fun. But maybe to much in a thread. I think ya both have my E-Mail? If not PM me. Ya, this could be more fun than trying to land a 737-400 in Juneau. HAAAA

If you want to setup a dual boot system it would be quite easy to tell you how, but too long to type. I'll email you some specifics, then you ould download your distro of choice. I don't know what speed your ISP provides but if it's dialup then me sending a copy in the mail woul be much quicker.

Anyways, I'll email you after I get some more work done. If I forget then email me to remind me.

Yeah. But the only problem is that the best Red Hat Distro is a pay for OS ( which is fine) still much cheaper than Vista. Suse sold out to MS anyways. They are now developing together. How sweet.
