Can someone steer me to the right part number. No one at Doanaldson is able to.
I would like a big 50+" muffler 4" in and out to quiet down the drone noise on my Excursion. I now have a muffler 30"+ SS straight thru with out any baffles or packing. I would like to find something with insulation or baffles that can keep the drone away expecially on 1800-2000 rpm range expecially towing!!!!
ANyone know which one has baffles or insulation that can get it close to stock with 4" diameter!
The truck has an edge, air intake and stock downpipe w/cat removed with 4" staight thru design.
I also thought about just installing a 3rd genration 2003+ muffler since they come with 4" from factory!!
My roommate put a 51" Donaldson on his '05 Dodge. He bought it through TruckPro. They have a shop locally. The part number through Donaldson is M090 S44. I believe it cross references to a Nelson brand as well, the part number for them is 86131M. Really quiet on the Dodge, and modestly priced. It is 4" in, 4" out. I believe it was around $70. I considered putting one on my '06 psd as well. If you get one let me know how it sounds.
*Note*: Don't use a crackerjack muffler shop to put it in. Haha, the guy that put his on at first mounted it against a cab mount. At idle it would cause you to go deaf in the cab and it about shook the poor dodge apart. After a trip to a common sense muffler man it was installed correctly. He says there is absolutely no drone at any rpm, towing or not.
