Here in GA we've been having snow and ice storms the last 2 days, and I thought it was neat until about 2:30 this afternoon...I parked my Bronco beside my parents house and rode off with them for about 30 minutes. When we returned I spotted a large Pine branch on the ground on either side of the Bronco. I rushed foward thinking "Gee it's lucky that those branches missed my truck". I spoke too soon...a third branch landed right in the middle of the roof.
:-staun
I would guess this branch is about 3.5" thick, 7 feet long, and it fell from about 60 feet up.(all 3 were covered in ice and broke b/c of the extra weight) It put a 4" deep crease in the top and completely destroyed the windshield there is glass all over the carpet...and seats...and dash...and it tore that little overhead console loose, it's holding on by only one corner...
When I called the insurance company, the secertary asked if I would drive it up to the office, so that my agent could inspect it. I scoffed and relied "NO"... It was just as well, since my sorry-butt agent left the office for the day at noon...
I sure hope they pay for the repairs, as it looks like it'll be expensive...

Yo Old,
Sorry to hear of your unfortunate damage.
I suppose you have checked your insurance in the comprehensive section; our's includes storm damage.
When you have a shop check for the repairs needed, ask them to look at the "gutter crack" area that plagues many Broncos.
Your EB overhead console is hard to find in the aftermarkt or yards; make sure it isn't cracked or the wiring damaged; and the cab roof's reinforced area/gasket area needs to be straight.
Good luck!
Sorry to hear that, if that ever happend to my bronco i would run at the tree with a chainsaw and cut it down right then, but i live in sothern california and i dont expect it to happen anytime soon (well sure wind, but thats besides the point). This gives an excuse for a new paint job though. hah.
Sorry to hear about your Bronco. If your Auto insurance company doesn't pay check out your parents homeowners to see if they will pay. I had a chunk of Ice go through my old Vans windshield at work in the parking lot and their insurance paid for a new one. I know every state has different laws. Good Luck
The insurance is going to pay for it. The claims adjuster is coming "sometime next week". In the past(my mother hits at least one deer a year), they(the insurance comp.) just wrote out a check to where ever we wanted to have her car fixed at.
I am thinking about having the whole truck repainted and just paying the difference, since it has quite a few scratches down the sides from bushes and such. I checked the overhead console today and luckily it still works.
So, it looks like I'll be driving my '89 to school for about a month while the Bronco is being fixed at local Ford place. Well, actually it'll sit there for about 2 weeks, and then they'll get around to ordering the winshield and blah, blah, blah...but, they're the only bodyshop that I trust around here.
