Question about DP-Tuner no-start program.

Question about DP-Tuner no-start program.
I have a question about what is the right way to use the No-start with the F-5 switch.
After done driving, I been turn the truck off, then turn the key back to the on position and then set the tuner to the No-start program.
I tried leaving the truck running then set the tuner to the No-start program and in worked. I prefer to use this method .
So after reading and re-reading DP instructions, it says -( with the key in the on position ) set the tuner to the No-start program, It doesn't say anything about setting it with the truck already running.
So what is the correct way ? What way have all of you been using ? Thanks...

Position 0 operation-
*Accessing position 0-
Press both buttons while key is on. The chip will not change to position 0 while the key is on. The display will blink on position 0 and it does not go to that position until the key is turned off. The display will not light when the key is in position 0.
*Exiting position 0-
Turn the ignition to on. Press and hold both buttons for 3 seconds to exit. The switch will return to position 1.
None of this is while the truck is running. Only with the ignition in the "on" position.

Let me clarify this a bit. I see that Diane was replying at 5:46am...maybe without her morning coffee?
YES, you can switch to Position 0 while the truck is running. On my 02 that's exactly what I do, before I turn the truck off I hit both buttons to put it into 0. Once you shut off the key it's locked in 0.
To exit position 0, press and hold the left button for 3 seconds (no need to hold both). This will obviously be done with the engine off because the truck won't start.
