Engine Swap

I have an 02 F250 with a 7.3L. The engine is wasted so I got an engine out of a 2000 F550 that I was promised would work. Just by looking at it I can tell the electronics are different. Anybody know what I'm up against here? Will it even work? Is it worth the time? Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm not sure what electronics would be different, but at any rate, all you'll need to do is swap the harness/connectors from your motor onto the 00. It will be a bolt in deal as the base engine is the same....Actually, the 00 engine is better. It has forged connecting rods where your 02's rods were powdered metal.

Yeah, and I *think* that the 550 engines are de-rated a bit to handle the heavy loads without overworking. So it will be a good candidate for your truck.

Thanks. I work on heavy trucks and farm tractors. What I meant by electronics is the harness, connectors, some of the electronic components on the engine, things like that. If it is just a matter of bolting it all on then it should be no problem.
