Im trying to get a wire from my battery into the cab to power my amplifier... any suggestions as to how to go about doing this WITHOUT DRILLING! I'm goint to try my best to not have to drill anywhere, i've tried every hole i can find and no luck, my only though was the antenna hole but i cant seem to find that hole in the cab =( worked on it for 3 hours with NOTHING ugggg lol any help is much appreciated. Thanks
no no, i need to find a way to run the wires from the battery to the cab dirrectly, i bought wires so i dont wnat to tap into existing wires, plus i use the lighter
This doesn't solve your drilling problem but on my 94 I took out that little block off plate for where the cluch master would be if my truck wern't an automatic, I drilled the hole in that and put it back in. Worked fine until I got tired of having a system and ripped it all out. Then I just got a rubber plug from an auto parts store to fill the hole.
Good luck finding someplace where you don't have to drill a hole. Car companies are good at filling every hole they don't use to cut down on interior noise. Keep looking though, there may be some hidden gap or plug you can remove.

This plug has nothing to do with the lighter.
This is a separate unused power source and you do not have to tap into the wiring. Just buy the plug from any parts place (trailer). It has ground and power and here is a photo of the plug in your truck.
if you look behind the seat there are 2 rubber plugs on the floor that you could run the wires through, just cut the center with a razor then run the wires through the center, if you want to get crazy silicon up the open spots so water dosent get in
the wires need to go from the engine to the cab, dont want to run wires under the whole cab. And subford, i have a trailer hook up already so that spot is used. All im trying to do is find a access point from the engine to the cab
You may already have a direct power wire from the engine to the radio. You could tap and fuse that. If not, it looks like you may have to run a gas generator on the front seat. The exhaust is wicked though so maybe a wind turbine generator would be better. The only problem there is you lose allot of passengers to those spinning blades and then, the mess. You also have to have your heater fan on high all the time to keep those blades spinning. Maybe drilling a hole is not so bad.
is there any need to be sarcastic? no. im simply trying to find a way to the cab with out drilling a hole. I know there are a bunch of people on here with the kind of truck i have so i figured it wont hur to ask but u all have to be a**h**** any OTHER ideas?
Sorry NeXtras, But You realy should not mess with any wireing unless you absolutly know where the power is comeing and going. Many PCM's have been destoyed by people messing with the wrong wire. Also SRS, and the new hybrid vehicles can kill you if you mess with the wrong wire. I know of a $45,000 BMW that cost $15,000 to replace 15 computers throughout the car after a well known sterio store messed with the wrong wire
The power wire for my first amp ran through the firewall on the passenger side just about where the fender meets the firewall, just below the hood line. That hole got me into the back of the hvac system, but I still had to drill a hole to get from that cavity through to the interior of the truck. I'm not sure that you'll find a location where you won't have to drill, as much as I hate to say it. As I'm sure you're well aware of (but it doesn't seem that some others are), an amplifier isn't going to run off of any regular 12V hot wire found inside the cab already.
Why not tap the fuse box that's inside the cab already? There must be a few spots there that have power all the time. If you tap on the side coming from the battery directly you could put an inline fuse to your amplifier. Pull the fuse and see which side is still hot. Maybe this is not a good idea, I'm not sure, does anyone else know?
