92 nite still still sluggish
I have a 92 f150 nite flareside. it seems alittle sluggish. I just give it tune-up. Min improvement, but not much. I was told that I should bump the timing. How do you bump the timing. I think that you move loosen the bolt and turn it clockwise and counter clockwise. Is there anythingelse outside of that ?
Thanks

You need a timing(strobe) light to set the timing. They're pretty cheap to buy but you may be able to rent/borrow one as well. Clip onto #1 plug wire, and with the spout plug disconnected base timing should be 10deg BTDC. You may be able to get 2-3 degrees more out of it before detonation under load becomes audible.. with 87 octane gas. But just be aware detonation can still happen even if you can't hear it, and enough of it will burn holes in pistons.
