just bought a 1994

for my 16 year old son, nice SWB, 4.9 liter, very clean truck. Looking for some basic info if anyone can help....have a clue what bolt pattern is on these, and what rear gear ratio was available. It has an auto, 4.9.

thanks in advance!!

Pop over to Advance or AutoZone or PepBoys and pick up a Haynes Manual.....lots of great info about the trucks. Others here can help with the gears....I don't even know mine...lol
I thought I saw a post that said the bolt pattern was 5x5.....but do a search and you'll find it for sure.
Try the other forums too.....there is one on wheels and tires that will have that.
Welcome to the forum and I don't EVEN want to know what your insurance is costing......been there....done that
Good Luck

thanks, great idea on the manuals!

Yea, insurance isn't bad, we just sold his Z28 because of him street racing, so figured a SWB Ford with the V6 fits the bill about now...

I think the bolt pattern is 5.5 x 5. If you are thinking about big tires and wheels...I would say 31x10.5. Anything bigger and it will start eating parts. Then junior will want to borrow your car!

The inline 4.9L motor is a good choice... better than the 302 if you ask me. Doesn't sound as cool, but probably runs better, gets better mileage, and produces more torque (I'm speculating).

Where are you located? I've got some 33x12.50 mud terrains with about 60% tread, on 15x10s. They came off my 91 bronco. Fit fine without a lift. The rims are aluminum, but not really pretty (old "Western Rims", I think).

i will suggest the same thing for a new truck purchase, live with it for awhile, do basic tuneup and maintenence.

get under the truck and make sure no rusted or worn out suspension pieces.

changing wheels and tires to just get newer bigger wheels and tires may accentuate a suspension problem.

true... I crawled under it, and it looks excellent. The truck looks like it spent most of it's life in a garage. The windows have never been tinted, and the original interior is MINT...even still has the factory radio,etc....but under neath, looks great other than i need to change the leaky oil plug. (dripping)

I dunno about that street racing. If racing is in his blood, he can burn some rubber with the 4.9 as well. Put some 31's on her with some heavy metal on the front - that might slow it down. HAHA

I should know. She may only have 150 horses, but they're all on steroids.
-grins-

My gosh I love my 4.9 <3<3<3

I use to be a chevy truck guy...then i bought a Ford and i'm glad i did!
I love my 94.
You could shoot a bullet through the side of a 300 and it will still run

Good choice.
