Excape Recall announced today
Hi All,
I have not made any posts in this folder before. I am mostly over at the F150 folders.
I just want to let everyone know about a recall for the Excapes that was announced this morning on the news.
I have a '02 Excape that my wife drives and last summer it had a fire under the hood while parked. It was caused by break fluid driping onto the anit-lock brake system causing it to short out and burn the main harness. At the time it cost me out of pocket $1600. and my insurance $1000. (I hope I will get a refund from Ford)
50 Excapes have had this problem so far. Please check for leaks at the master cylinder and/or break fluid on the anti-lock system.

My Excape is on the list, I now have to get Ford to refund me for the almost $3000. for the repairs.
BTW, This recall is because my wife went the whole nine yards, letters to Ford, NTHSA, congress,... etc. She was one of the first to have this problem out of now 50 cars on record. She was told by the dealer in order to get a refund a recall will have to happen within a year from the date of it being fixed. I hope they hold to that.

My wife and I will be going to the dealer today to see if they will remburse us for the repairs we paided for due to this prroblem. Back last August, they suggusted they would, if a recall was placed within a year........We will see
