Been shopping for a while and finally bought a new truck. I drove a lot of trucks, kicked a lot of tires, and I gotta say there's some really fine hardware rolling around out there. I really liked the Rangers I had, but between features, stying, pricing & financing, I decided on and purchased a 2007 Nissan Frontier 4x4 Crew Cab long bed. A little bigger than the Ranger, but I needed the room.
I got a lot of info & support here - I sure appreciate all the help I got. Learned a ton about these little trucks too... Definately will miss the Ranger though...
OOOOOOOOO!!!!, Sting!~!!! Sorry to se you go agryphon. But a a a a a a a a a a NISSSSSSAN. What the heck we're runnin' around with Mazda trannys in our guts. You've just pointed out one of the major shortcummings, room. Family growing? Crew cab eh? Been lots of talk around here about that option. A crew cab diesel or 4.0 stroker would be nice to round out that part of the market segment.
Good luck and hopefully the oil doesn't pool up around your ankles
heh... no new family member's, just the ones I got don't exactly fit in jump seats anymore.... I looked at F-one-fiddies... but just wasnt were I wanted to be... If there was a Ranger crew cab option, I would've really looked at it... and a diesel would be a deal maker no doubt...
Back in the 80's I used to drive a little toyota diesel... it was gutless, but it wouldn't die... even though it had to run wide open a lot...
Well...sad to see you go agryphon, it won't be quite the same around here without you and your Ranger. Do please swing by occasionally and drop in, tell us how it's going.
I do with you the best of luck with your new truck.
So...what are the rest of the options? Engine, tranny, etc.?
i was able to test them years back but i couldnt fit right into one of them but hey if it floats your boat more power to you.. sorry to see ya go but enjoy your new ride

Factory applied spray-on bedliner

tons of other stuff...
"Dude", sorry to hear your leaving and douped into buying japanese no less ha ha, when it rains it pours. Personally I would walk before I would buy japanese, unless it be a mazda ranger he he. At least it's not a yoda. I hope you enjoy your new truck and will still stop bye, maybe even show us some pitures of your new pride and joy. I like the nissan crewcabs with the roof rails, I think that looks boss. I did a motorized paper route for 2 years back in the early 80's using my father-in-laws little datsun p/u, it never gave be an ounce of trouble and was fun to drive. I was use to full size p/u's, driving a truck that small was a joy for parking and just plain sportiness. Good luck and keep in touch.
I'm always sorry to hear about Ranger owners who are unable find a suitable Ford replacement vehicle. It leads to me to wonder about other things, such as why the heck Ford decided to let a popular model like the Ranger wither (and die?) on the vine...
agryphon, good luck with the new truck, I'm not really a fan of Nisson trucks, but I can't argue with all the features and options that your new baby has.
thanks - 'yoda's are not realistically priced IMHO. I would have bought another Ford but there just wasn't one in the line up that fills the need. The Fords are a fine truck.
The last nissan I had was a '91 240sx, which was a freaking great car - really liked it. Never liked the ugly plastic fender flares with the fake bolts that the Frontier had. But they are gone now, and they offered a long bed version of the crew cab this year... If it had said "Ford" on the back, that would have rocked...
Sorry, no roof rails Wendell - I like a clean look!
I'll post some pix and stuff later. I prob will hang around some, as I still need to maintain a Windstar van for my parents. At least you guys ain't looking to lynch me...
