So basically if it sounds too good to be true it usually is....
well, if you take into account that the esslinger head with a performance cam offers close to the same flow rate as the volvo head with both stock cams, and that the entire volvo head swap can be done for less than 1500 bucks, i would say it is most certainly NOT too good to be true. i was reading a thread a little while ago that said someone made 720whp with the volvo head, and it was streetable. they may ahve been lieing, but i since it wasnt he who did the swap, why brag on account of someone else.
the fact that you now have a dual cam head, which is more easily tunable in a turbo application, and you can have the best intake cam and best exhaust cam you could immagine seperate from each other is nice. also, the volvo head hasnt been flow tested with porting to my knowledge... it almost out flows the essy head which is obviously heavily worked over...
There is someone who makes kits which include the head, tensioners, spacers, EVERYTHING you need to the nuts and bolts for 1500+ shipping.
its not a matter of the turbos really...its more of a matter of getting a boost controller so u can adjust it cuz u could always get 1 turbo and run it at 24 lbs or get 2 and run the at 12 lbs each and of course having the head ported and whatnot to flow the extra air
im sorry to get defensive, but there are many 4cyl turbo's making over 600hp, and if you want to see some 2.3turbo's that really haul, turboford.org. im not sure how streetable it is claimed to be, but i heard he drove it on the street, occasionally, and streetable came up.
i will have to find the thread and post it up here... btw... there are 1000hp 4cyl cars out there, and to be completely honest, the power comes when the turbo spools, and when you have 1000hp with the turbo, you've spooled by 3000rpm...
yeh and not to mention on cardomain theres i think its a nissan mini truck that has the SR20DET motor in it that makes over 1000 hp to the rear wheels with turbo and it is STREETABLE and looks sweet too
well until i can find a 2.3lt motor(i think i know where one is actually) im just gonna buy some performance plugs/wires/coil and cut the cat off my 2.0 and see if that improves the 76hp that it prolly isnt anywhere near now that it has 197,000 miles
uhm so i put the plugs/wires on...i havent had a chance to test them..i need some tires for the front cuz my brother had to borrow them temporarily(the truck is just my driveway runner right now cuz i dont have my license yet) oh yeh and my battery died
