Tire Shine

Purchased new BFG Wrangler for my Ford F250, 2004 Harley. Looking for good tire shine, etc. I read that silicone base products will harm rubber, etc. any products that are not silicone based?

Invisible glass has a new product out called "More Shine" that works great. One coat gives it a flat look, adding a second gives the tires a wet look. Auto Zone and prolly others carry it. Megiuars is another recommended product.

No silicone! Silicone will strip the clear coat paint finish off, so you don't want to spray any silicone near the paint...also stay far away from any silicone based waxes.

It depends on how shiny you want them. I have taken a liking to mothers duration tire care recently. It doesn't spray up on the fender like the ultra shiny eagle one, but it is much duller.

For the good stuff, check with the show car people. Zainos, Mothers and Meguires.

I use Meguiars hot tire shine, simply because it lasts the longest.

Thumbs up New stuff...

I found some stuff made by Turtle Wax...comes with an applicator. It's clear and kinda think..lasts for at LEAST 4 washes...and won't wash off after driving in the rain.

I'm with NumberDummy on this one. I have been using this stuff for years so its not really new and its made by a company called Stoner. Works really well and doesn't attract as much dirt as a lot of other and if you give it 5-10 minutes to dry, flinging is minimal.

I use silicone based dressing for longer lasting and glossier shine and water based for a matte finish.

I've used pretty much everything and have found that Armor All's Extreme Tire Gel works the bests and lasts the longest.

How long have you been using the Armor All's Extreme Tire Gel rslvster? Is it water based and how well does it stand up to the rain?

I started using it in November and it stands up very well. My truck SAT outside for 3 months and when i took the cover off, they were still shining, even the half of the tire that wasn't covered.
it stands up well in the rain and contains silicone....

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have an inherited 78 that has sat for some time. The tires are so dry that even all the tire dressings I've used keep getting washed off; even after proper preparation. I will grab me some of that and take it for a spin.

I'd throw two coats on in the hot sun, then let sit for a few hours or overnight....post pics if it works for you!

Thanks rsylvstr, I should have started taking pictures when I got her from the farm. I have done several restoration projects already that would have made a decent gallery.

No time like the present to get started with a small gallery.

I like this stuff, its called Black Magic Tire Wet, its spray on and no wipe, and it looks great, I also use it under the hood on plastics and rubber, and even on the inside on my dash and door trim, and the no wipe thing makes it super easy and user friendly. Comes out super glossy and my last time i did it was 30 days ago or so and its still shining on the inside under the hood and inside.
