Well, this may be an old clip but I have never seen it before. There is no doubt that this was a company policy with Jiffy Lube and you can bet they are not the only ones.
I used Jiffy Lube all the time with my '89 Ranger and '99 F-150 and never had a problem with them just changing my oil and filter......But I was out thereall the time watching them like a Hawk. But I am not surprised considdering the oil change they did on my F250......I didnt know anything about what type of oil to put in it and I was getting ready to tow about 6,000lb's up to MT from AZ, I wanted to get some fresh oil in there since I had just bought it off the dealer used. Jiffy Lube recomended QS Synthetic Blend 5W30 and said that was the only oil they had and I didnt know any better. So three months pass by and I am up in MT now so its time for a OC again, I go to the local recomended shop and ask for the same oil JL put in my truck and they just about slapped me for haveing that kind of oil in my truck lol. So now I know what type of oil to use but I dont trust Jiffy Lube anymore.
I do use an oil change place for my oil changes, (fleet acct through work), but I use the same one every time and always watch them. If they say (wich these guys never would) "our insurance regulations do not permit customers in our shop" then I say my payment regulations do not permit payment unless I watch.
i have no choice because i live in an apartment complex, but i don't use jiffy lube, there is a good local place here for it. and of course i watch them.
I actually have a place that changes my oil and I use them simply because I don't want to hassle with storing and then getting rid of 15 qts of oil. The place I use is a mom & pop place right here in the little town that I live in and they always invite me to watch and I chat with the young man that does the work. It's a little pricey but like I said I don't have to hassle with the oil so for me it's worth it. We are all on first name basis and they have never done me wrong or made any mistakes. I guess it's one of the perks of living in a small town.
I still do the simple stuff yet because I want to be sure that the right amount and type of oi get put in and the drain plug isn't stripped or so loose that it will vibrate out. I just don't trust many of the places any more.
