Cool Remote Control Locks

Did a little searching and havent found a definitive answer. Just got an 07 F250SD XLT with the diesel. And it does not have a remote unlock. Over 40K for the vehicle and that wasnt part of the package? Can i get this added on or is it just not part of the plan. Also only has a single disk player with no satellite. Can i get that added on as well?

It does have power locks and windows but no remote to unlock the doors and lock them. I thought it was kind of strange to have power locks with no remote.....

I had an '03XLT that did not have remote keyless entry either. I too thought that most XLT's included this option.

A quick way to determine whether or not your vehicle is equipped with the remote keyless entry option:
* put key in ignition
* cycle ignition between off and on positions 8 times within 10 seconds without starting the engine

If your vehicle is equipped with remote keyless entry, your power locks will lock and then unlock. If this happens, you can order new key fobs thru ebay relatively inexpensively (as compared thru the dealership). Instructions for programming your new key fobs should be included.

Good luck.

My XLT did not come with a remote, my dealer did install a remote entry and starter in lieu of fixing some minor scratch that really doesnt bother me.

I would try RAGaz advice, would be sweet if you only need to pickup a new key fob.

Looks like the test resulted in no installed system. Where and what should i look for in an aftermarket system?

FYI.. When you do the key cycle test, make sure you're doing it from the right position.

Position 1 is all the way back, sometimes called the "accessory" position. Position 2 is the "Locked" position, the one where you leave it when you shut off and remove the key.

Position 3 (and the position you want to start the test from), is called the "Off" position. (I know, a little confusing).

Position 4 is the "full accessory and run" position (where you want to stop the test).

Position 5 is "Start"

So you put the key in the ignition (and you're most likely now in Position 2).

Turn one more click to Position 3 (Off) and then from there turn to the next Position (4) and back again to Position 3 eight times within 10 seconds, and end up the last time in Position 4.

Then, if you have keyless entry, the locks should cycle letting you know your in key-fob programming mode.

This is described towards the end of the section called Locks and Security in your owner's manual under the "How to reprogram your remote entry transmitters" section.

TX

Yep, tried it again and the locks dont move. I just cant beleive that you spend over 40K on a vehicle and in this day and age, it wouldnt come with a remote for the locks. Any aftermarket stuff i can look for?

When I bought mine (off the lot), it too had the power locks and windows, but no remote 'clicker'. Just told the saleman that the sales depended on them 'installing' the remote system. By the time a got back off the test ride, the salesman was inside the showroom, locking and unlocking my doors with the remote!! (And laughing like mad)Incentive is a great motivator!

Same experience here. Salesman tried to tell me that my 2007 XLT did not come with remote keyless. I questioned three times before he asked a colleague who showed him how to program two remotes to the truck. Within a few minutes, I had my remotes.

I'm not sure if it was part of the XLT package or the "advanced security group" the truck was equipped with.

My 1998 F150 XLT Supercab did not come with remote door unlock either. It does have power windows and door locks. I can not find the RAP unit under the dash. That would allow keyless entry and remote door opening. Might be better off installing an alarm system.
