personally i dont listen to him, nor care for him. but what he has said is rediculous.
he was talking about the rutgers womans b-ball team, prodominately black team, that got there buts handed to them by the tenn lady vols.
he called the rutgers team "a bunch of nappy headed ho"s"
it just amazes me that someone would actually stick there foot in there mouth like that. no common sence what so ever. especially with the following he has on the radio waves.
it blows my mind that in 2007 something like that is said.
I agree that what he said was really, really dumb, but not quite so newsworthy as they are making him out to be. Imus has been saying dumb things for years (racially sensitive things) and suddenly he is being taken to task for this? Why not for the things he said about Venus and Serena Williams?
While I don't agree with the nappy headed part, the only people who should be involved with this firestorm are Imus, the rutgers players and their coach. Jesse and Sharpton need to butt out, quit calling for a lynch mob. besides everyone makes mistakes once in a while.
If you read the whole conversation, its not quite as bad as it sounds as first glance.
Where is Sharpton and Jackson's outrage when black people make similar or even worse statements? How can they call for Imus to be fired while rappers continue to widen the divide between black America and mainstream America? People today sit around waiting, sometimes wanting, to get offended by anything. Kids dying every day in Iraq and we get 24 hour non-stop coverage of this garbage.
To be brought to task by Al Sharpton is a case of the pot calling the kettle African American. Years ago when Sharpton accused a prosecuter of a rape that did not happen, there was no apology. I'm not a listener, but I am told that Imus has been making jokes, some bad, for years.
your right about media coverage flocking on the wrong topics or topics that have no relevant meaning in life, like the anna nicole fiasco.
my only problem with what he said is, if it were an all white team, and lost the same way, what would he have used for words?????
nappy headed ho"s in reference to an all black starting line up is pretty bad. no matter what the rest of the context was.
I'm an old goat, so I'm not up on street speak...what exactly does nappy refer to? Never heard of it inre to people. A nappy (slang for napery) is an Irish word for bedding or linen.

just ridiculous, first of all he should have known better, however it's only becuase he was white that he was targeted! as already stated Rappers and black comedians (with the exception of Mr Cosby) use the word "HO" all the time!!
as for Nappy- do we all recall a few years ago in NY city when i white teacher was basically ran out of her school and threaten with violence becuase she had her students read a book called "nappy hair" this teacher was well known for teaching her kids about racial differences , yet was threatened with violence by a bunch a bigots who never read the book or had any idea that the book was written by a well respeced black author!!! where was jessy or al to support her??
we all know about Al's past and Jessies as well, what was it Jessy called NYC? oh yeah " Himeytown" hows that for someone who goes around poking his finger at people and saying prejudice!
here's the info on the teacher from NYC http://www.adversity.net/special/nappy_hair.htm
yet when the mayor of new orleans says something, it gets pretty much swept under the rug.
Hey give him a break. After all, he did clarify it by saying that when you put dark chocolate into white milk you get laffy taffy. Or something like that. Obviously he was talking about the city being the capital of Hershey's Candy. Or maybe he meant he was going to give chocloate milk to everyone. Whatever he said, it wasn't racist, because he said it wasn't. That's what the media told me to think, anyway.
