I have been looking to replace my 1994 f350 (idi diesel, will not die). I found a 2006 f350 dully King Ranch with 25000 miles. It has a Airaid air box installed that I would put back stock. I pulled a carfax and a oasis report both were clean. After reading post on the 6.0 it seems most troubles were on the earlier models. The born on date for this truck is 01/06 but you cant help to get a bit paranoid reading some of the problems with the 6.0. Is there any way to tell if this truck has been chipped? Anything else I might look for. I got the dealership down to $32500. New to site really great info here. Thanks in advance for comments or suggestions.
I've not any porblem with my 04 F250 6.0L it runs great. You are gettin some kind of warranty. If you like it and you say the reports come back clean. Go for it, but as for it having been chip, I cant help you. Now that just my Opinion. John
If you can find out the exact build date you may have the updated 6.0.
Really though, the 05 and later trucks were more trouble free than earlier trucks. I would also be more concerned about oil/filter changes than if the truck was chipped or not. The 6.0 needs fresh, clean oil to operate properly and to keep the injectors in good condition. Most guys that post here change the oil at 5K instead of 7.5K because of that. See if the Dealer has a record of when the oil/filter were changed and general service that was preformed.
If the OASIS is clean, it has a warranty, and you like the truck then go for it!
I have an '06, build date 5/06 and have been happy so far. The '06/'07's have been the best of all the 6.0's. The '03/'04's, more seem to have had trouble then not, although alot of it was just annoyance problems, like repetative oil leaks. The '05's were better, although there was an issue with a fitting failing in the HPOP system, causing a loss of oil pressure and a hard or no start condition. Like anything else as time goes on more and more bugs are worked out. 32,500 sounds fair for an '06 KR, It must have stickered for somewhere near 54K new.
F350 is a very nice truck!
Did you drive it?
Ford builds a very nice body, at 190k + miles my truck still runs, looks, and drives GREAT.
I replaced all 8 injectors, but only 1 was bad. Oasis says she has always been healthy.
