So, a couple months ago I was driving and while going into third I heard this crack. Fourth fine. Into fifth the pedal wouldn't come back up. So, I pull over and found this little plastic clip all ripped up. So, I put locking pliers on there to keep these things together.
These "things" are... A hydrolic push thing with a ring at the end. That goes around this thing that's connected to the pedal.
It would work, but it wouldn't start. So, I had to cross the solinoid every time.
I let this go for a while and finally desided to get a new dumb clip ($12) and it started the first couple times. Now I have to hold the key and stop the clutch to get it to crank.
Today I discovered that if I hold the clutch, the key with my left hand, and reach below the dash and grab this wire harness attahed to the hydrolic thing and tug on it - it'll start.
So, what the hell do I have to do here to start my truck like a normal person?
I was thinking of zip-tying it forward to.... something.
The "hydrolic push thing with a ring at the end" is the clutch master cylinder push rod. The clutch safety switch rides on that rod. It sounds like yours has slipped over the stop. Unplug the wires from the safety switch, unclip the white plastic strip on top of the switch, and pull down to remove the safety switch. Inside you will see the slide and spring, on the shaft you will see the notch, the plastic slide has to catch on the notch. It takes a little bit of playing with it, but basicly you depress the slide inside the switch, slide it on the shaft, and then release it. I hope this helps you.
